Palliative Care Biography Program
Marissa is a mother of 2, has a full-time job, and in her spare time (the little she has) volunteers as a Palliative Care Biographer with the Northern Healthcare Volunteer Association (NHVA).
Our dedicated biographers, like Marissa, undergo comprehensive training from an established Biography Service and are supported by the Northern Adelaide Palliative Care (NAPS) leadership team and NHVA to ensure they’re well prepared for their role within Palliative Care.
Bicultural Program
Increasingly, members of new and emerging communities are using the services of the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) in particular the Lyell McEwin Hospital and Elizabeth GP Plus, and are at times finding it difficult to navigate these services.
Comfort Care
We received great support from NALHN teams across Special Care Nursery, Children’s Ward and Staff Health to plan and coordinate this program.
Octopus for a Preemie
Crochet octopus comforters will be given to premature babies to promote bonding and help prevent them pulling on tubes and cords, as part of a South Australian first pilot in the Lyell McEwin Hospital’s Special Care Nursery.
Motorised Wheelchairs
New! Wheelchairs! The program will be launched at the Main Guide Desk and rolled out to the other desks after a pilot period and when shifts are filled.
